Austin is an energetic city with lots of great outdoor adventures to be had, but the past couple days of rain have kept Austin skies gray. No need to fear though, Yobored is here with some great ways to have fun in Austin and still keep dry!

Bookstores.

There’s nothing better on a rainy day than curling up with a good book and escaping to a new world. Although I’m sure we all have our rainy day favorites, Austin has plenty of great places to find a new favorite. Bookstores aren’t just a good place to find a new book, they’re also a great place to meet new people and make a friend, take a look at these Austin favorites to start your literary adventure.

Bowling.

“Dude, Let’s Go Bowling” my favorite quote from my favorite movie (The Big Lebowski) is calling to me today. The second you hear the sound of pins falling your rainy day worries will melt away, get those styling bowling shoes on and hit the lanes. Just don’t step over the line cause “Smokey, this is not ‘Nam. This is Bowling. There are rules.”

Dart Bowl, 5700 Grover Ave, Austin, TX 78756, 9AM-12AM.

Union Underground, Union Bldg, 2247 Guadalupe St, Austin, TX 78712, 10AM-3AM.

The Goodnight, Village Shopping Center, 2700 W Anderson Ln #101, Austin, TX 78757, 11AM-12AM.

Arcades.

Release your Inner nerd at one of Austin’s great Arcades, but don’t be fooled these aren’t your everyday arcades, turn away from the arcade for a second and you’ll find these are great places to meet new people with similar interests. Many have bar areas, some have other games to play, and they all have plenty of people looking for new friends.

PinBallz Arcade, 8940 Research Blvd, Austin, TX 78758, 10AM-12AM.

Arcade UFO, 3101 Speedway, Austin, TX 78705, 6PM-12AM.

Movies.

Movies are a classic go-to on a rainy day, the smell of rain and the smell of popcorn just seem to go so well together. Bring an extra jacket though! The Austin Movie theaters are used to hot weather and don’t heat very well, so it might be a little chilly. The Austin favorite Alamo Drafthouse has some pretty great hot chocolate to enjoy with your movie.

Alamo Drafthouse, 5701 W Slaughter Ln, Austin, TX 78749.

iPic, The Domain, 3225 Amy Donovan Plaza, Austin, TX 78758.
