By Gavin Muenzberg.

I took a look at the forecast this morning and it looks like the rain is just gonna keep coming folks. It’s time to get up, get out of the snuggies, the slippers, and the sweatpants Get into the warmest coat you have and high tail it for the nearest coffee shop, where you’ll spend all day swapping stories of the crazy weather you had to endure. Because that’s the Austin way.

Austin is full of great coffee shops and more are popping up all the time, some are just quick stops for those on the go, some are cozy, warm, and meant to relax in. Considering the fact it’s the weekend and we don’t have anywhere to go, today we’re focusing on the coffee shops meant to spend your day in.

This little coffee shop, is going to be big. With a trendy modern style and plenty of natural light this is a great spot to enjoy your day in. Try the Popcorn Trio for a great snack!

Houndstooth – 401 Congress Ave Ste 100C. Austin, TX 78701

The Houndstooth Baristas know their stuff, the variety of coffee and selection at Houndstooth is reason enough to check it out. The staff is fast, efficent, and accurate. Houndstooths fantastic outdoor Patio under Frost Bank Tower is my favorite spot to people watch in Austin.

Toms – 1401 S Congress Ave Austin, TX 78704

This half shoe store, half coffee shop on SoCo is worth the stop. The clubhouse feel makes it a cool spot to hang out and meet some new friends. Make sure to wear your best pair of Toms or maybe buy a pair while you’re there.

Seventh Flag Coffee excels in creating an engaging coffee shop experience. With an open space that is minimalist but still inviting, this is a spot sure to spur your creativity. This is also a great place to make a friend, whether it’s a member of the engaging staff or someone who’s sitting nearby, this is a great spot to introduce yourself, and then add each other on Yobored.

JO’S – 1300 S Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78704

Although JO’s doesn’t have the best rain cover it’s still a great place to find your spot and hole up for the day. Be ready for it to get pretty busy though, you may have to share your table, this is Austin’s favorite coffee shop so you can always plan on it being great tasting and busy.

Epoch Coffee – 221 W North Loop Blvd. Austin, Tx. 78751

This 24×7 coffee stop is a favorite for UT students any time of day, the indoor and outdoor seating is welcoming and made to cozy up to someone you haven’t met, start a conversation, and make a friend.
